Priority Service

Applying from Inside the UK

If you’re applying for a visa or settlement (‘indefinite leave to remain’) from within the UK, you have the option to expedite the decision-making process with our ‘priority service.’ This service allows you to receive a decision within 5 working days.

Eligibility

To use the ‘priority service,’ you must meet specific eligibility criteria:

  • You must be applying for a visa or settlement from within the UK.
  • You must be applying for a visa category that is eligible for the ‘priority service’.
  • You must pay an additional £500 on top of the standard application fee.

Eligible visas when applying from inside the UK

Certain visa application and applications for settling in the UK are eligible for ‘priority service’ expedited processing. However, there are limits on the number of applications that can be expedited, and eligibility depends on the type of application and how you prove your identity. Applying with Family Members

If you are applying with family members, each family member must pay an additional £500 fee for expedited processing. Please note that you cannot choose different decision times for individual family members; all family members should opt for the ‘priority service’ to expedite decisions for the entire family.

Using the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ App

If you apply using the ‘UK Immigration: ID Check’ app, you may still be eligible for a decision within 5 working days. However, if family members need fingerprinting and photographing at a visa centre, decisions may take longer. In such cases, you’ll receive decisions within 5 working days after the last family member’s appointment.

After You’ve Applied

Once you’ve applied, you’ll receive an email followed by a decision letter, either by post or email. If your application is approved, the email will convey the outcome. If your application is refused, the outcome will not be mentioned in the email.

When You Might Wait Longer for a Decision

If you need to provide additional information or documents, your decision may take longer. You’ll receive instructions on how and when to provide this information.

Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)

Expect to receive your biometric residence permit (BRP) within 7 to 10 days after the decision. If it doesn’t arrive, you can report your missing BRP online. Ensure your provided address is up-to-date if you wish to receive it elsewhere.

Applying from Outside the UK

If you’re applying for a visa from outside the UK, you can also expedite the decision-making process using the ‘priority service,’ potentially receiving a decision within 5 working days.

How Much It Costs

In addition to your standard visa application fee, there is an additional fee for using the ‘priority service’:

  • £573 if your visa allows for settlement in the UK.
  • £250 if your visa does not offer the option of settling permanently in the UK.

Applying with Family Members

When applying with family members, all members receive decisions simultaneously, and individual decision times are not available. Each family member must pay the ‘priority service’ fee for faster decisions.
