What is a private school education?
In the United Kingdom, private schools (also known as independent schools) are fee-paying schools, independent of many of the regulations and conditions that apply to state-funded schools. There are around 2,600 independent schools in the UK, which educate around 615,000 children. In 2022, the average annual cost for private schooling was £20,480 for day school and £34,790 for boarding school.
Why choose UK for private education?
Independent schools in the UK are recognised by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) as being among the best in the world. Some independent schools are particularly historical, such as The King’s School, Canterbury (founded as part of the church in 597). There are various types of independent schools including selective and non-selective schools, single-sex or co-educational, with some of them offering the opportunity to board. It is not only the academic success but also the focus on traditional difficult subjects that attracts many parents to send their children to independent schools in the UK. There is also great focus on the development of the whole child through a range of co-curricular activities, either in sport, art, music or drama.

Each private school in the UK sets its own admissions procedure and there is no standard model in applying to a UK private school. There are, however, a few common steps in the application procedure:
