Sponsorship Licence Application
How do I get a sponsor licence for my business?
In order to make a sponsorship licence application, you need to follow the steps as below:
- 1: Check the eligibility of your business.
- 2: Choose the type of licence you want to apply for.
- 3: Decide who will manage sponsorship within your business.
- 4: Submit sponsorship licence application online and pay the fee.
How do I apply for a sponsor licence?
You need to apply for your sponsorship licence online and send in the relevant supporting documents. The standard processing time is within 8 weeks for most applications.
You will need to send at least 4 relevant supporting documents to prove that you are a genuine business and are able to carry out sponsor responsibilities. All of the documents that you provide must be the originals or certified copies. There are exceptions where you don’t need to provide 4 documents if:
- you are a recognised public body by the UK government
- you are a listed company on the London Stock Exchange Main Market.
UKVI may pay a site visit to your business to check the genuineness and reliability of your business. We can help you in advance of the site visit to ensure that you meet the requirements of the immigration rules. We can also be present with you on the day UKVI visit, to ensure that they follow correct procedures. For more information about UKVI site visit, please Contact Us.
What licence rating will I receive?
If your sponsorship licence application is successful, then you will get an A-rated licence. This will allow you to start assigning certificates of sponsorship, and your business will thereafter be listed on the register of sponsors.
What is a Certificate of Sponsorship?
You must assign a certificate of sponsorship (electronic record) to each foreign worker that you employ from outside the UK. You require to pay for each certificate, and when issued they contain a unique number which a foreign worker can thereafter use to apply for a visa to legally work in the UK. All assigned certificates must be used within 3 months.
